Auntie Risser & The Colonel joined forces like many great duos do...drunk at a Christmas party. It was that fateful night in December of 2013 when R. Taylor "The Colonel" Etherton and Marissa "Auntie Risser" Stout decided what the world needed was a little bit of down-home twang and a whole lot of soul. And thus was born AR&TC, specializing in genre-bending, mind-blowing covers that blend the essence of funk, soul, and R&B with just a touch of porch-stompin' country, and absolutely guaranteed to make your booty shake. With The Colonel rocking the guitar and vocals and Auntie Risser wailing to the rafters, this dynamic duo made their debut on December 28, 2013 and have since become a staple in the Dallas music scene, performing regularly at The Liquid Lounge and The Curtain Club in Deep Ellum, Dallas, TX.
It didn't take long to expand their sound, and they brought into the family fold the talents of Ryan "Uncle Ryan" Muller on drums and Derrick "Cousin Derrick" Sechrist on bass. From their debut as a duo to this current power-quartet line-up, AR&TC have proven themselves to be Masters of the Mix Tape, with themed gigs spanning decades and genres. Never a straight cover, always a funky, fresh re-imagining of the original, and thrown into a magnificent mix of music. From the "Love & Hate" set following a linear progression of a failed relationship, to the unforgettable Prom Night complete with the crowning of a Prom King and Queen, an AR&TC show never fails to bring out a crowd of loyal followers and to snag new fans with their infectious grooves.
Let it be known, brothers and sisters... shout it far and wide... Auntie Risser & The Colonel are on a mission to enlighten the masses and bring their distinct sound to a people in need of some churchin'. Praise the Lord and Pass the Funk!
